RACE PACKET/TRANSMITTER PICK UP

Race packet and transmitter pick up to be announced.

The Gran Fondo is held RAIN OR SHINE, in the event of lightning, riders are to seek shelter.

TIMING CHIP PLACEMENT

Timing chip stickers are to be placed on the seat post of rider’s bicycles, an additional number sticker is to be placed on the top top of the rider’s bicycle. The photo below indicates proper placement.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

The DGF departs promptly from the National Mississippi River Museum at 8:00am. Participants are to be lined up and ready to depart at 7:45am. Awards ceremony will be at 3pm at the National Mississippi River Museum.

All DGF route signs will be placed on the right side of the route. Additional yellow signs will be placed along the route on rural roads to mark the course. Participants must follow the directions of police along the route. Timed segment roads will be closed to traffic, but participants will follow the yellow line rule.

TIMED SEGMENTS

SEGMENT 1 Mt Carmel Road @ 1.3 mile mark, .4 miles long.

SEGMENT 2 Heritage Trail @ 16.7 mile mark, 6.9 miles long.

SEGMENT 3 Potter Hill @ 57 mile mark, .9 miles long.

NUTRITION STOPS

There are two nutrition stops providing water and food. The first stop is at mile 24, just after the finish of timed segment 2. The second stop is at mile 42 at the Field of Dreams. There will also be a water stop on Derby Grange Road.

PARKING

Free public parking is available at the Port of Dubuque parking facility.

The accumulated time of three segments counts towards the competition. Only riders who complete the full the Dubuque Gran Fondo course are eligible for competition prizes.  If two riders have the same overall time, the rider with the faster time at Segment 3 (Potter Hill) shall break the tie.  If both riders are equal there as well, the faster time at the previous segments in reverse order will be used to break the tie (Segment 2, 1).
